Policy 01

Privacy Policy

PupuOri.com operates a global directory for Ori Tahiti competitions, Polynesian workshops and events, Pupu ʻŌri schools and groups, and community vendors. This policy explains the information we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

  • Profile and claim information: name, role, organization, email, optional phone number, location, official source, social handles, authorization explanation and requested corrections.
  • Vendor information: public business identity, products or services, fulfillment details, external checkout links and event attendance.
  • Uploads: logos and profile images submitted by authorized adults.
  • Reports: reporter contact information, the listing or content involved, relationship to it and supporting details.
  • Location: if you choose “Use my current location,” coordinates are used in your browser to estimate nearby schools and are not intentionally stored with your profile.
  • Technical information: hosting and security providers may process IP address, browser, device, request and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the service.
  • First-party usage totals: we count page views, directory searches, saves and official-source visits in daily aggregates. PupuOri.com does not attach these counts to a visitor name, account, cookie or stored IP address.
  • Member accounts and saved listings: a My PupuOri member account is private. When signed in, saved-listing identifiers are associated with the account so favorites can sync across devices. Public organization profiles are separate and require a human review before approval.
  • Notification choices: members and administrators may select which account, deadline, matching-listing, report and workflow alerts they want. In-app notices and delivery preferences are stored with the account. Email alerts are not sent until PupuOri activates a connected notification-delivery service.

How we use information

We use information to create and maintain listings, publish authorized public profile fields, respond to corrections and rights requests, investigate abuse, secure the service, understand which directory features are useful and improve directory accuracy. Authorization evidence, private contact details and reports are not intended for public display.

Service providers, sale and sharing

Hosting, database and storage providers process information on our behalf to operate PupuOri.com. We do not sell personal information. We do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If those practices change, this policy and the required choices will be updated before the change takes effect.

Retention and security

We retain profile records while a listing is active and as reasonably needed for correction, fraud prevention, disputes, legal obligations and backups. Reports and authorization records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for review and accountability. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may request access, correction or deletion of information you submitted through the Report or correction form. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting. Some information may be retained when legally permitted or required.

Policy updates

Material changes will be identified by a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to later use.

Policy 02

Terms of Use

By using PupuOri.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not submit a profile, report, review, listing or upload.

  1. Directory service. PupuOri.com organizes community information. It is not the organizer, school, hotel, vendor, payment processor, travel agent or employer shown in a listing unless expressly stated.
  2. Changing information. Dates, registration status, fees, schedules, hotel rates, availability and links can change. Verify decisions with the official source.
  3. Authorized submissions. You must be at least 18 and authorized to submit or manage the organization, listing, image or information involved.
  4. Accurate use. Do not impersonate others, misstate affiliation, upload material you cannot use, interfere with the service, scrape at abusive volume or submit illegal, unsafe or deceptive content.
  5. Your content. You retain ownership of lawful content you submit. You grant PupuOri.com a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, resize, display and distribute it only as reasonably needed to operate and promote the directory and your listing.
  6. Moderation. A member account does not create a public profile or verified identity. Professional profile claims are reviewed by a person. We may request evidence, correct, restrict, suspend or remove content or access when reasonably needed for safety, rights, accuracy or policy enforcement.
  7. Third parties. External sites have their own terms and privacy practices. PupuOri.com is not responsible for their availability, conduct, products, payments or security.
  8. No warranties. The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and do not guarantee uninterrupted service or complete accuracy.
  9. Liability. To the extent permitted by law, PupuOri.com is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from directory reliance, events, travel, third-party transactions or user content.
  10. Governing law. These terms are governed by California law, without overriding consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

Policy 03

Community & Listing Rules

Permanent entity ruleA competition is an event. It is never a Pupu ʻŌri. A Pupu ʻŌri is a Tahitian school or organized school of dance.
  • Only a Raʻatira/director, owner, officer, designated administrator or documented authorized representative may claim or edit a school.
  • Use a real identity, reachable contact method and official public source.
  • Unclaimed schools display only name and general area. Private contact and authorization information must not be exposed.
  • “Claimed” means an adult asserted authority and completed required fields. “Verified” must describe what was checked; it is not accreditation, endorsement or a quality guarantee.
  • No impersonation, scams, harassment, hate, dangerous offers, stolen content, false affiliations or knowingly inaccurate dates and prices.
  • Profile owners must promptly correct material changes and have permission for every logo, photo, flyer, description and link they submit.
  • Reports may lead to correction, temporary hiding, suspension or removal. Good-faith disputes may be appealed through the reporting form.

Policy 04

Marketplace & Vendor Terms

The Pupu ʻŌri Market is not open yet. PupuOri.com is not accepting vendor listings or facilitating marketplace transactions during this testing phase. These terms will apply to future vendor participation when the Market opens.

  • Vendors must be 18+, authorized, accurately identified and legally able to offer the listed goods or services.
  • Vendors set prices and are solely responsible for permits, product safety, taxes, payment, fulfillment, shipping, event pickup, returns, refunds and customer service.
  • Prohibited listings include illegal goods, unsafe products, fraud, hate material, exploitative content, counterfeit goods, unauthorized cultural or intellectual property and items restricted by applicable law.
  • Fresh, botanical, food and body-use items must include truthful handling, ingredient, allergy, shelf-life and safety information where applicable.
  • Event pickup claims require the organizer’s or venue’s permission where needed. A vendor must not imply official event affiliation without authorization.
  • Paid plans, if introduced, require clearly disclosed prices, renewal, cancellation and refund terms before purchase.

Sold and fulfilled by the vendor. PupuOri.com does not process or guarantee the transaction. Review the vendor’s terms before paying.

Policy 05

Directory, Event & Travel Disclaimer

Competition, workshop, ticket, registration, hotel and travel information is provided for planning. It can become outdated without notice. Always confirm through the linked organizer, venue, hotel or booking provider before registering, paying or traveling.

  • Hotel prices may exclude taxes, fees, deposits, parking, resort charges or occupancy requirements.
  • “Host hotel” is shown only when supported by an event source. Nearby branded hotels are alternatives, not implied partners.
  • Availability is not guaranteed and should be checked for the visitor’s actual dates and occupancy.
  • Ratings and review counts may originate from third-party services and can change.
  • Archived event records are historical and must not be used as current registration instructions.

Policy 06

Reviews, Sponsorships & Affiliate Disclosure

PupuOri.com does not currently publish community reviews or use affiliate booking links. Before either feature launches, the relevant listing will identify sponsored placement or commission-earning links clearly.

  • Future reviews must reflect genuine experiences. Fake, purchased, retaliatory or undisclosed insider reviews are prohibited.
  • Employees, owners, relatives and compensated reviewers must disclose their relationship.
  • Payment may increase placement visibility but may not purchase a positive rating, verification outcome or removal of a legitimate negative review.
  • Sponsored and affiliate relationships will be disclosed near the recommendation or link, not only in this policy.

Policy 08

Children & Minors

PupuOri.com is a general community directory intended for adult-managed submissions. Visitors of any age may browse public information, but accounts, claims, vendor profiles, reports, reviews, uploads and public profile management are limited to adults 18 or older.

  • Do not submit a child’s private contact information, birth date, precise location or other sensitive information.
  • Do not upload an identifiable child’s photo, video or audio without documented authority and all legally required parental or guardian permissions.
  • If we learn that personal information was submitted directly by a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
  • Parents and guardians may use the reporting form to request review or deletion.

Policy 09

Accessibility Statement

PupuOri.com aims to provide keyboard-accessible controls, readable contrast, meaningful headings, descriptive alternative text and responsive layouts. Accessibility is an ongoing practice. If content or a control is difficult to use, submit an “Accessibility problem” through the reporting form and describe the page, device, browser and assistance needed.
